How to Gain Weight Healthily

Gaining weight can be a tough process. There are so many sites on the web that deal with the weight loss problems, but not so many of those which deal with weight gain. Weight loss market has literally flooded this relatively small niche, so it is very hard for an underweight person to actually find any useful information!

Dealing with weight gain can be as painful as weight loss. I, at the time of this writing, am still a bit underweight, although I'm improving a lot. Now I will share with you what I've learned so far on this matter.

What I find the most important to start with weight gain is the mindset, the mental condition. You need to be mentally prepared to engage into such things. It doesn't go easy and it takes time, that's why you need to motivate yourself for maximum efficiency. I like to mention to my friends and family how I feel about weight gain. I say weight gain is a "mental war" - the act of yourself fighting against your own brains. Well, not exactly but that's how you should treat it. So what mindset should you have?

Say to yourself that you are capable of a continuous battle against your body
Believe that you can achieve a goal!
Be ready to change your lifestyle!
Be prepared to change your eating habits!

You see?

Secondly, there is a healthy weight gain diet plan. The only thing that can make you heavier! Now, most of us can eat lots of food but not gain any weight at all. Why? Because the approach is wrong. What you need is a detailed diet plan. Normally, it won't benefit just by stuffing yourself with anything you see. The key is in the stabilized diet. By stabilized I mean that your meals should contain all types of foods - Proteins, carbs, fibers, fat, vitamins, minerals. Then you need to track how much calories you have eaten per day till now (the state when your weight is stagnant). You can count your calories online with a free calorie counter at http://caloriecount.about.com/ Then when you have the number, add additional 500 calories per day to gain 1 pound. That's how it usually works.

Breakfasts are vital! I cannot stress this enough. If you eat more and healthily in the morning, then you will be set for the rest of the day. The more you eat in the mornings the more your stomach will be able to take later. It is important to start your day early enough. Waking up at noon and then jumping straight to lunch simply won't work. You should get 8-10 hours of sleep max, then the results will be the best.

Exercises count too!

There are a few ways how to gain weight, one of them is also through exercise coupled with a proper diet. It doesn't hurt if you stretch a bit here and there. I understand, skinny people normally don't have a lot of energy and they especially don't like to show off in the sports outfit. There are many exercises that you can do from the comfort of your home, like push ups, lifting weights or piles of books. However I wouldn't recommend you do the aerobic exercises such as running and stationary bicycling because they are better for fat loss and excessive aerobic training may cause you to lose more weight.

Google this up, I'm sure there are many guides on how to do it. Last but not least you can go to your local gym and ask a training instructor for help, he or she will know what's good for you.
